We’re pre-recorded today as it’s Family Day at The Red River Ex. It’s also my last chance to play the official theme song of The Ex, and that means a little hip-hop to kick things off and kick out the jams. We get a little wordy with some poetry and look ahead to some other notable upcoming shows.
Super special guests today as we chat with our old pal Mike Plume who returns to Winnipeg with the band this week and we’re joined live in-studio by Steven Bowers for some chat, live performances, and even a few new music tips.
Word came down recently that one of our favourite places to hear live music, The Times Change(d) High & Lonesome Club is facing an uncertain future. That hits us right in the heart, so we started off with just a few of the many songs immortalizing that hallowed stage. On a happier note, we’ve got plenty of new music, upcoming shows, concert news, and all around good times.
Tonight we’re super-excited to present the world broadcast premiere of Christina Martin’s dynamite new CD, “Sleeping with a Stranger.” We’ll get Christina on the phone to chat all about it and spin a few of our early favourites from a super-solid recording. As if that weren’t enough, we’re excited about the local debut of Deer Tick, and we’ve got a big preview and tickets to give away for that show. We’ve also got some great new music.

We’re still flying high after last night’s amazing Skydiggers show, so we’ve got a couple of theirs and a couple from former Skydigger Paul MacLeod, who celebrated a birthday this week. We’ve also got news of upcoming house concerts at Sunset Saloon, as well as tunes from another birthday boy, Jory Nash, who performed at the Saloon recently. We’ve also got some special requests and dedications as well as a look ahead to tomorrow’s Del Barber/Old Man Luedecke show.
