Another week, another of the all-time greatest songwriters gone. Last week we paid tribute to Jerry Jeff Walker, and this week we say a fond farewell to Billy Joe Shaver, one of the most revered and covered songwriters of them all. Billy Joe lived through just about every danger and tragedy there is, so I was starting to think that he was immortal, but 2020 has a nasty way of proving everyone’s mortality. Billy Joe leaves behind a catalogue full of incredible songs that will be sung forever, and the first hour of the show is full of only some of the best.
