We preview a couple of exciting upcoming shows with some guests. First up, talented young singer/songwriter Liam Titcomb is traveling across the country raising money for War Child. With great songs, a great attitude, and a great cause, how could we not support him. Liam dropped by to talk about the tour and play us some of his amazing new songs. And, winding their way to my living room, Christina Martin and Steven Bowers called us from the road to tell us how their tour is going.

Pre-recorded as I’m off at the Trout Forest Music Festival. The Fred Eaglesmith show rolls into town this week, and that means a heaping helping of Fred and of course a tribute to the late great Willie P Bennett. Then, we’ve got new music, old but interesting music, upcoming events, and more.

A few upcoming shows definitely worth mentioning (Trout Forest, Gimli, John Wort Hannam, etc.) but for the most part, this show was about great music, some we haven’t heard for quite some time and some we just can’t get enough of.

Summertime’s a great time to relax and just listen to some great music, and that’s what we did for the most part today. Sure, we talked a bit about the upcoming Trout Forest Music Festival, and a bit about the glory of The Jayhawks, but other than that, it was good music and good times.

We look back at this year’s Winnipeg Folk Festival highs & lows. And just because WFF is over, that doesn’t mean that festival season is over, instead, it’s just gearing up. We take a look ahead at Canada’s best little festival, Trout Forest, as AD Devin Latimer gives us a call to chat about this year’s lineup.

Steel Belted Radio – July 16, 2009

The gang’s back from the Winnipeg Folk Festival with songs to play and stories to tell. We also have the usual stuff (arguing, cutting each other off, making fun of Dean, T-Bar’s lousy picks… you know.)

I’m off at Folk Fest as all good hearted people should be, but in my absence I present to you the official Tell the Band to Go Home standby show, which attempts to present some of the true great classics of yesterday and today.
