Episode #886

I got my first COVID vaccine this week, and although I feel great about being a little safer for myself and those around me, the side effects knocked me out for a while, so the first hour of the show is brought to you by modern medicine, sicknesses, and feeling better. In hour two another load of great new music and a celebration of a great album released 20 years ago this weekend.

I had originally promised to air part of my interview with Stephanie Lambring on this episode but I, uh, forgot. I blame the side effects. I’ll have to find a way to remember to do it next week. Until then, check out the latest episode of Fly with your Shadow for the rest of that conversation. It’s an especially interesting and important one.

Episode #884

Today we start off with a tribute to friends old and new who have passed away over the past week in music history. I’m very late to the party in discovering Winnipeg’s own Kipp Kocay, and I’m sad that I didn’t seek him out before his untimely passing this week. We also fondly remember the music of John Bottomley, Jesse Winchester, and Merle Haggard. I ran out of time so didn’t get to John Prine, but certainly love and miss him as well. Hour 2 is all new music culled from new releases over the past couple of weeks, and there are some gems!

Podcast: April 4, 2021: 4/3/21 Countdown/By the Numbers

Episode #883

This show was recorded on 4/3/21, and hopefully it’s not the Final Countdown, but it did inspire two hours of countdowns, count-ins, and a whole lot of numbers!

This show is a little different than your usual Sunday afternoon singer/songwriter fare, with a bit wider scope and some artists and songs we don’t normally play on the show. It’s fun to loosen things up and have a little fun once in a while.

We’re calling this another of those “standby” episodes that you may hear again someday, but I’m pretty confident that it’s fun and interesting enough that you won’t mind a bit!
