We don’t really get excited about sports around here very often, but today the Bombers are playing for the Grey Cup, and they can use all the help they can get. With that in mind, we send out a set of Blue & Gold songs that will hopefully help the boys win the big game. There are a couple of shows this week that we’re excited about, including the return of our pal Andy Sheppard and his new project Find the Others, and the legendary Gordon Lightfoot!

Live in the studio, we’re once again joined by one of Winnipeg’s finest songwriters, Jeffrey Hatcher, who chats about Hatcher-Briggs and The Blue Shadows, and debuts his new song about Billy Cowsill, and much more!

Luckily, I made it off my duff and out to Neilfest this weekend, and it got me thinking (as I often do) about how amazing our local musicians are. Truly world class, and we’ve got some of the best today, including some songs from Hatcher Briggs, who do a rare live show next weekend. Also next weekend is the return of the amazing CR Avery (along with Wil). We’ve also got some neat new music, some requests, and even a trip to the opera/opry!

Tonight we kick things off with a few classics from our namesake, Mike Plume, as well as celebrating Gordon Lightfoot’s 73rd birthday. We look forward to next week’s show, when we’ll be joined by Hatcher-Briggs, and we look forward to Neilfest, CR Avery, and more. Best of all this week, we get a call from the most special caller of all, Santa!

Tonight we’re inspired by the late, great Willie P Bennett, Tom Wilson, Minneapolis, and whatever causes T-Bar to play the stuff that he does…

Today we celebrate the 70th birthday of one of the most important songwriters in the world, Guy Clark, with a bunch of his songs, some stories, and some friends. As if that weren’t reason enough to celebrate, this week sees the return of Brock Zeman and Tom Wilson to Winnipeg. Let the celebrations begin!

There’s a couple of great shows coming up, featuring Brock Zeman and Tom Wilson, and while we could spend hours and hours extolling the virtues of both, we’ll do what we can in the space of a few songs. This week we also play a bunch of all-time classics for our pal Boyd, and anyone who loves great songs.

All the cool kids are releasing new albums on vinyl these days, and the coolest of the cool put out limited edition coloured vinyl versions, so that nerds like me can bring a bunch of them down to play on the radio, like I did today. We also listened to a few tracks featuring producer/player Sam Kassirer, who heads to Winnipeg this week to make a new record. We heard some folky songs, some rockin’ tunes, some dedications, and some songs inspired by the Neighbor’s Dog.
