Podcast: July 23, 2023 – Love Songs for the Next 25

Episode #998

Today we preview a few exciting upcoming shows in Winnipeg as well as this year’s outstanding Calgary Folk Festival lineup. (upcoming local events: https://tellthebandtogohome.com/upcoming-events/, Calgary Folk Festival: https://www.calgaryfolkfest.com/)

In 2016, I put together a show full of love songs for some dear friends who were getting married. This time, it’s my turn! It’s been a whirlwind of change and joy since the big Tell the Band to Go Home 20th anniversary show at The Park Theatre in October, which is where I was re-introduced to someone who was very significant in my younger life, but I hadn’t really seen in 23 years, Nicole Robson.

On Tuesday, it’ll be the 25th anniversary of our first wedding, which happened on July 25, 1998, and we’re going to celebrate by doing it all over again, but promise to do it right this time! The love and joy and hope that I once wished on others, but secretly thought wasn’t possible for me, has now arrived, and the future looks very bright! My friend Dietmar may claim to be the luckiest man alive, but I’m making a run for the title. The songs in this show help express some of the immense luck and satisfaction that I’m feeling these days.
