For over a decade, I have been blessed to be a host with CJUM 101.5 UMFM in Winnipeg<\/a>, where I strive to spread the word about great music and culture. It is our sincere hope that what we do makes a difference in the lives of artists and fans, and experience feedback tells us that we\u2019re doing a pretty good job. We hope that we play a vital role in encouraging and spreading music and information.<\/p>\n

Over the years, the cost of running a radio station has steadily increased, and sadly, our funding has only gone down. We\u2019ve done as much as we can to cut costs, increase revenue, and run things as efficiently as possible. Over the past two years\u00a0we have been\u00a0overwhelmed by the response to Pledge-O-Rama, which has helped us to become a stronger, more sustainable station. That support energized us and helped us to make the station even stronger and smoother running, and helped us to plan for a more stable, sustainable future. We’d love to keep the momentum going, so UMFM will again be running our annual\u00a0funding drive, Pledge-O-Rama, October 17 to 24<\/a><\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In order for it to be another success, we\u2019re going to need a little bit of help. I don\u2019t want to ask anyone for help \u2013 we\u2019ll be just fine, one way or another \u2013 but knowing that there are folks out there who may want to help, I offer up a few ways that you could, if you wish, help us to continue and even grow in our role.<\/p>\n

1) Prizes<\/strong>. We will be offering up prize packages as incentives for pledges. If you have any items that might be of interest to listeners, we would welcome those.
\n2) Pledge<\/strong>. I know you\u2019re broke too, but any amount offered up during the drive will help, so consider tossing a few bucks in our collection plate when the time comes.
\n3) Free and easy \u2013 offer up a testimonial <\/strong>about what campus and community radio means to you personally or professionally. Write or record something that tells people why accessible indie radio is important to you and your community.<\/p>\n

Supporting the station and the great information and music that we promote makes you an official Music Angel, entitles you to our ongoing heavenly thanks and praise.<\/p>\n
