August Long Weekend, fun in the sun!
Sunday, August 1st, 2004 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Host(s): Jeff Robson
What’s this? Another pre-recorded show? This is becoming a bit of a habit, Robson.
Why, yes, I’m not in the studio live this week for TTBTGH, but I’ve prepared a dynomite show in my absense. I’ll tell you all about my excuse for missing the show, the great lineup of music in Gimli this weekend, and of course relive some of the great memories of last week’s Calgary Folk Fest. We’ll also look forward to the reason I’ll likely pre-record next week as well, The Brandon Folk Fest. Yippee.

What’s this? Another pre-recorded show? Yup, this week I’m off in Brandon checking out their great folk festival and getting away from all of the things I have to do here. But, the show must go on, and I’ve got a lot planned for TTBTGH while I’m away.

I love telling you about upcoming and recent concerts in town, and there are a TON to discuss this week. Today’s special guest interview is with a guy who’s playing at the Collective on Wednesday, a rockin’ young singer/songwriter from Victoria named Leeroy Stagger. He’s an interesting guy and has a great CD to boot.

And, looking ahead to next week, what’s that on the horizon, another pre-record? Yup, next week I’m off to that hot vacation spot, Regina to see their great folk festival. I’ll tell you what’s in store in case you want to call the travel agent and meet me at the resort.

Don’t worry, I’ll do another live show, someday.

Well, just one more pre-recorded show for now, I promise. I’ll be back in the studio live next Sunday, but this Sunday I have another great excuse for missing the show, the Regina Folk Fest. I’ve told you all about how great the lineup is, so you’ll excuse me for not being here live this week, especially after you hear the show I’ve got planned out. It’s a good one. Lots of great music, of course.

One of our favourite bands around these parts is the mighty Nathan. They’ve got a brand new record coming out and it’s a fine one. The CD release party will be on August 26 at the West End. Looking forward to that, we’ll hear some brand new Nathan. In fact, we’ll go back in time to July 6, 2003, when Nathan was live in the studio playing some brand new songs and chatting and having fun. If you missed it the first time ’round, you’ll want to hear this. Even if you heard it, you’ll want to relive the memories. It was a great show, I know you’ll enjoy it.

We were expecting a call from Kevin Welch to discuss his fantastic new disc with Kieran Kane & Fats Kaplan and the upcoming collaboration with David Francey, but he was a no-show, so instead we just listened to a whole bunch of music from these amazing artists.

In hour 2, we heard stuff. Yeah, that’s right, stuff.
